About me
Hello! I'm Louise Ambrosi, founder, bag maker and pattern designer at Sew Sofia.
When I'm not sewing, I'm probably swimming, out for a walk or cheeky coffee, or spending time with my family.

it started with a bunny bag
My inspiration for Sew Sofia hit after making a simple bunny kit bag for my daughter Sofia for school back in September 2011. I loved the process so much that I made a whole bunch of cute bags and took them to my first market that December. I remember not selling much at the event, but I learned a lot from the experience and wanted to discover even more items that I could sew for my family, friends and to sell!

thirteen years on
Thirteen years on, my work has come a long way! I continue to make bags and accessories which I sell online, at local markets and with a couple of stockists. I also enjoy pattern testing for other bag designers which you can read up about over on my blog, and in more recent years I have developed a few bag patterns of my own. Pictured here, my Serena Saddle Bag pattern.

I consider myself a resourceful bag maker, taking care not to throw away any fabric scraps that could be turned into something useful. I also make a point of using high quality and eco-conscious fabric choices to bring creations that you'll love, made with care and sewn to last!
